The Norwegian Forest Cat is one of the most remarkable of all cat breeds.  With a history dating back hundreds of years, this breed of cat has came a long way from their roots in Norway.  A natural breed, whose unique features such as the double coat, ear tufts, tufted paws (natures snow shoes), and longer back legs came from nature as a means of addressing their extremely cold, wet Scandinavian environment.

At Longyearbyrn, all of our efforts are dedicated solely to the Norwegian Forest Cat.

The cats of Longyearbyrn are shown and registered in CFA and TICA.
